About Us
After years of research, Peter and Suelaine Poot purchased their first alpacas in 2003.Â
Alpacas were small enough that the children could work with them safely, and they produced a fibre that could be turned into a sustainable end product. They currently have over 50 alpacas on the farm.
Since then, their 24-acre family farm has become home to Suri and Huacaya Alpacas and their family. Along with raising award winning alpacas, many of their children are now active in the alpaca community with their own farms or help at Pootcorners.
Pootcorners is unique in that they raise their animals for clothing fibres and meat consumption, unlike most other alpaca fibre farms within Ontario. As a result of this sustainable, no-waste practice, they produce beautiful, natural coloured alpaca hides, as well as lovely clothing and other fibre products.
Since 2006 Suelaine has assisted in the organization of the Spring Show and helps to run the Fibre Initiative Committee with Alpaca Ontario.
Pootcorner has worked with Peggy Sue Collection in Toronto to create luxurious, ethical, award winning fashion pieces handcrafted with locally sourced fibres.
You can find them at the farm, and local fairs, farmers’ markets, and craft shows in the summer and fall months.
